Gretchen Edwards-Bodmer is a feminist activist, blogger and mother. Her passions include building the self-esteem and confidence of women and girls especially around body image, empowering them to pursue their dreams and goals, promoting a more positive portrayal of women in the media and pop culture, analyzing and challenging gender roles and stereotypes, and working toward gender equality and social justice. I could not find a contact email so I am leaving this as a comment but would appreciate a reply.I am writing as a student of Concordia University in Montréal, Québec, Canada. I am currently working on a feminist research project investigating the topic of “speaking for others” in online feminist blogging. I am a big fan of your blog and following your work and I was wondering if you would be interested in answering a list of questions for my research. I am particularly interested in how feminist bloggers include content about sexuality, and specifically raise awareness about LGBTQ issues on their blog, if they themselves identify as heterosexual. Obviously you would need to fit into this category to be a part of this research.
To give you a better idea of the direction of my research, this is my topic focus: I am studying how heterosexual feminist bloggers choose to include LGBTQ content on their sites in order to give a voice to marginalized groups and present a more comprehensive view of sexuality. I am interested in the challenges these women face when including this content when their own standpoint is from outside the LGBTQ community.
The questionnaire would be quite simple, about 10 questions to answer through email, an example question being: “Where do you find information about the LGBTQ community? (books, other blogs, friends in the community, etc.) Your personal information would remain completely private in my research, and I will share my finished research with you afterwards.
